Silk is really acting pregnant!!!

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Today Silk started her nesting syndrome. We have some amazing Australian Labradoodle puppies on their way!!!!! She treats all of the dogs as if they are intruders. She looks for a private spot and starts digging ~ usually in our dirty laundry: ). I love it when she is so protective and exhibits nesting behaviors. She is a driven by some natural desire to provide a safe nest for her puppies! Stay tuned: ).

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski

Monday, January 26th, 2009

This is a favorite and must read for all dog lovers. Tonight Oprah will have a live broadcast at 9PM EST and host the author. He will answer questions and discuss this soon to be classic novel. To participate sign up on Oprah’s website. This should be a fascinating evening. The Sawtelle dogs remind me of the Australian Labradoodle breed. The novel never reveals the breed of the dog; just that it is a breed that is developed for traits that make it remarkable. All dog lovers will understand the novelist’s fascination with dog’s intelligence and ability to communicate and to love. I can’t wait to hear what the author has to reveal about this book.

Yes she is already doing her early puppy in the belly symptoms. I remember my first litter with Silk. Flame had been my experienced one when she had her litter. Silk was my baby. I knew, of course, that Flame knew what to do with newborn puppies. I was so surprised that Silk knew exactly what to do and how she took to being a mommy. It is amazing that they come with this knowledge. When I had my son I don’t remember knowing what to do!

Silk will be a mommy again. I cannot wait to see the pups that she and Chance produce. Both are fantastic examples of the Australian Labradoodle breed. I have dreamt of these babies for a long long time.

I will be doing updates often right here. Silk has two of her puppies already adopted. We will take 2 more reservations prior to doing ultrasound. Please check back often for updates.
